The Journey of Celegence: From Concept to Industry Leader

Veluchamy and Punya Abbhi, shared their inspiring journey of building a company from the ground up. Celegence was founded in 2017 by sisters Sonia A. Veluchamy and Punya Abbhi. Sonia, with nearly two decades of experience in the life sciences industry, and Punya, with a background in management consulting, saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between process and technology in the regulatory space. As Sonia explained, “We saw an opportunity to bridge the gap by offering this industry tech-enabled services”.

From its inception, Celegence focused on helping clients navigate evolving regulations and providing a comprehensive range of regulatory services. The company’s growth was fueled by its commitment to leveraging technology and a global talent pool. Punya highlighted their unique approach, stating, “We saw that the combination of offering a global talent pool with that onshore-offshore model and combining that with technology would really help ease the resource burden faced by this industry”.

A significant milestone in Celegence’s journey was the acquisition of Qdossier in 2022. This strategic move allowed Celegence to expand its service offerings and leverage Qdossier’s expertise. Sonia shared, “We were really keen to grow this global strong footprint that was going to be able to support companies of all sizes. And that was really the reason behind our decision to acquire Qdossier back in 2022”.

With nearly 15 years of experience in the life sciences industry, Sonia Veluchamy co-founded Celegence to help companies bridge the gap between regulatory intelligence and operational compliance. Previously, as Managing Director at ArisGlobal, Sonia led global operations and expanded the company’s partnerships to include 30 of the top 50 pharmaceutical companies worldwide. She holds a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Punya Abbhi, COO and Co-Founder

Punya Abbhi is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Celegence. At Celegence, Punya is focused on realizing our vision for increasing efficiency through technology.
